More Programmes To Increase People's Income, If BN Wins GE14 - Shahrizat
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) government will introduce more programmes to increase the people's income, especially through the digital economic field, if it continues to get the people's mandate in the coming general election, said Wanita UMNO leader Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
She said currently, various programmes with the same objective were being implemented, such as the ?eRezeki? and ? eUsahawan? under the Malaysian Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC), which had since benefited more than 250,000 participants nationwide.
Shahrizat, who is also the Women Entrepreneurship and Professional Development Adviser at the Prime Minister's Department, said the people were able to benefit from the programmes because of peace and stability in the country helmed by a responsible government.
"We have a prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) who emphasises the economy of the people and the country. We must have economic freedom, economic strength. this is an aspect of development which is very crucial," she told a media conference after launching the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory-level #YouCanDuit programme here today.
Shahrizat said the existing government was concerned with raising the income of the people and had drawn up policies that would make digital economy the country's revenue drivers.
The #YouCanDuit programme is an initiative introduced by the prime minister to popularise the economic digital aimed at increasing the people's income through eRezeki and eUsahawan.
Meanwhile, MDEC chief executive officer MDEC Datuk Yasmin Mahmood , who was also present at the media conference, said since the programme was launched three years ago, participants had been able to generate an accumulated total income of RM340 million.
"For the eUsahawan initiative alone, the participants have generated income of RM227 million and the amount will continue to increase as the businesses get stronger, while for eRezeki, the amount has exceeded RM112 million," she added.
