UMNO Ready To Engage Fifth Gear For GE14 - Ahmad Maslan
KENINGAU, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- UMNO IT Bureau chairman Datuk Ahmad Maslan said UMNO is ready to put on the fifth gear for the 14th general election.
"As such, I am here (Keningau dan Pensiangan) to activate IT and Social Media bureaus at all party branches here," he told reporters after chairing the Keningau and Pensiangan UMNO division IT Bureau Committees here today.
A total of 100 Social Media and IT Committees from both divisions attended the programme including Keningau UMNO division head Datuk Sairin Karno.
Ahmad said if in past battles, conventional weapons such as keris and machetes and guns were used, dependence on such weapons maybe not completely relevant today due to the rapid development of information technology.
"Now, mobile phones and laptops have become the weapons in GE14," he said.
"Unlike the previous general elections, UMNO is fully ready to tackle slanders in the cyber space by the IT machinery of its 191 branches," he said.
