'Coke Or Pepsi' Debate Attracts Salleh's Attention

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The following is a statement by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak regarding the 'Coke or Pepsi' debate brought up by a political activist recently.

This followed the opposition pact's move to name former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, as its prime minister candidate.

The minister's statement which was posted today on his blog at sskeruak.blogspot.my reads:

The Coke versus Pepsi debate was first started by a political activist who argued on what's the point of coming out to vote if the choices were merely, either Coke or Pepsi? PPBM replied that even if it was Coke versus Pepsi, you could still vote for Pepsi since it may taste better than Coke.

Pakatan seems to have missed the point.

When someone says, 'Coke versus Pepsi', it means there is no difference between the two. In other words, Pakatan is not better than Barisan, as they are trying to suggest.

Voters are saying, why bother to vote if both coalitions are the same? If Pakatan is merely Barisan 2.0, then might as well leave Barisan in power. Pakatan does not seem to get that message the voters are sending them.
