MB Urges Terengganu Media Practitioners To Support TTB Principles
KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Media practitioners have been urged to support the eight principles of the New Terengganu Transformation (TTB) initiative since it is inline with the state's development towards the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) initiative.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said he was satisfied with the close ties between the state government and media practitioners as both understood and supported their roles and responsibilities.
"The media plays a crucial role in disseminating accurate and correct information, ensuring that the public is not easily confused by the agenda of irresponsible parties.
"In a borderless world of technology, what with the upcoming 14th general election, the challenges will be more demanding. Numerous inaccurate information will be spread by those with a hidden agenda.
"The state government hopes that media practitioners will continue to reveal the truth to the people, enabling them to make the right judgement based on published reports," he said when launching the Terengganu Journalists Club's (Kawat) Tabung Amanah Warisan at a dinner with the media, themed '2018 Back-to School', here last night.
Also present were the press secretary to the prime minister, Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhles, Kawat president Wan Abdul Rahman Hayat and over 170 Terengganu media practitioners.
In the event, Ahmad Razif also announced an allocation of RM50,000 for Kawat's management matters and presented school aid to media practitioners.
Meanwhile, Wan Abdul Rahman assured Kawat would work in line with the mission and vision of the federal government and the state government in an effort to fulfill the country's and state's development agenda.
He also thanked the efforts of the menteri besar who was constantly aware of the needs and welfare of the media practitioners in the state.
"The newly launched fund aims to protect the welfare of media practitioners during times of misfortune and lessening their burden.
"Participation is on a volunteer basis, with a commitment fee of RM50 and a monthly contribution of RM10 per person. Participants will receive various benefits contributed by the media practitioners."
