BN Elected Reps Must Focus On Development In Respective Constituencies - Ahmad Zahid

BAGAN DATUK, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representatives to focus on developing their respective areas including helping the local community.

He said such a matter should be given priority as the people will evaluate the contributions of their elected representatives.

"I do not (want to) touch about the opposition. Let's talk about ourselves (BN). Let people tarnish our names.

"(The most important thing is that) we want the people to know that we are working on developing Bagan Datuk, Perak and Malaysia to become a prosperous country. We do not want to fight," he said in his speech at the second fund-raising charity dinner for the building of a temple, at the Peng Aun Keong Hall here tonight.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament, urged the residents in his constituency to fully support the BN-led government so that it would continue to serve the people.

"I want the people in Bagan Datuk to close the old book (and move on). The 13th general election (GE13) and GE12 have passed. We want to focus in GE14. The Malays, Chinese, Indians must be united this time around," he said.

Ahmad Zahid said the people in the constituency should set aside religious, ethnic and cultural differences to develop the district, which is a new district in Perak.

"The current development in Bagan Datuk is for all of us, and we know that Bagan Datuk can be progressive if we are united," he added.
