BN Has Proven Track Record In Batu Sapi Development - Samsuddin
SANDAKAN, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) has a proven track record in bringing development to the multi-racial community in Batu Sapi, said the BN coordinating chairman for the parliamentary constituency, Datuk Samsuddin Yahya.
Samsuddin, who is Batu Sapi UMNO chief, said this was due to the ongoing concern of the state and federal governments to meet the needs of the constituents.
Among the significant developments in the area were two People's Housing Programmes, in Taman Batu Sapi and Lintas Sibuga, as well as the construction of several houses under the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme.
"BN has proven its ability to fulfil its commitment to the people in the Batu Sapi area regardless of race and religion," he said at a dinner organised by the Batu Sapi MCA Division here last night.
Samsuddin, who is the state assemblyman for Sekong, said the BN in Batu Sapi was ready to defend the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat and the Sekong and Karamunting state seats in the 14th General Election.
The BN has been serving the people non-stop and its leaders were not seasonal leaders like the opposition's who become active only ahead of elections, he said.
In a by-election in 2010, BN candidate Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) retained the Batu Sapi seat with a majority of 6,359 votes, defeating candidates from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
In GE13, Samsuddin won the Sekong seat with a majority of 3,530 votes while Datuk Charles Pang Su Pin of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) won the Karamunting seat with a majority of 855 votes.
