Kelantan Police To Conduct Two-Day GE14 Simulation Beginning Tomorrow
BACHOK, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan police will conduct a two-day simulation exercise of the 14th General Election (GE14) nomination day and campaigning period beginning tomorrow.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said the simulation exercise would start at 6.30 am until midnight in preparing for the coming GE14.
Members of the public were advised not to be alarmed by the exercise including on the presence of hundreds of Public Order Riot Unit members in their area.
"This gives a hint that the general election is drawing near but we ourselves do not know the exact date," he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the Inspector-General of Police Table Tennis Cup in Tangok, here today.
Hasanuddin said in conjunction with the GE14, they would also ask for an additional of 1,300 personnel as the existing number of personnel was insufficient.
In another development, Hasanuddin said the Kelantan police were tracking down three men believed to be involved in a car hijacking in Kampung Tiong, Kota Bharu at about 7 am today.
He said in the incident, a 54-year-old male victim had just returned from a mosque when his Toyota Hilux vehicle was suddenly blocked by a red Proton Saga car bearing fake registration number plates and carrying three masked men.
Hasanuddin said the three suspects were alleged to have smashed out the vehicle window and forced the victim out of the Toyota Hilux before driving off with the vehicle.
"The investigation revealed that the victim tried to fight off but failed as the suspects had a sharp weapon believed to be a machete. The victim also claimed that a shot was fired by the suspect and further investigations will be carried out," he said.
