Perak DAP Recycling Old Issues Against MB - Saarani
IPOH, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Perak UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad said today Sitiawan state assemblyman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham of the DAP was recycling issues to belittle the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said all the accusations of the Perak DAP advisor had been answered either in the state legislative assembly or outside with the support of strong evidence.
He said it was too childish to urge the Menteri Besar to resign on unfounded allegations such as the bonus payments and a car that Zambry had received from the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP).
"It has been repeatedly explained that the bonus was paid when PKNP garnered profits and that the bonus was paid not only to the chairman but also to officers and staff of the corporation.
"PKNP bought the car for the use of the Menteri Besar as a company car and not for personal use as alleged," he said in a statement here today.
At a press conference at the Perak DAP headquarters here yesterday, Ngeh alleged that Zambry received a bonus of RM115,000 and an Audi Q7 luxury car valued at RM620,996 from PKNP.
Saarani said the question arose whether DAP would make similar allegations against Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and urge him to resign for having received much higher bonus payments as the chairman of various Selangor government agencies and subsidiaries.
"If Ngeh and other DAP leaders are so serious, they should urge Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to resign over the purchase of a bungalow and the undersea tunnel project.
"This only proves the high degree of hypocritical attitude of the DAP leaders in Perak as they create 'scandals' and slander to belittle others but shut their eyes and mouths to the scandals faced by their own leaders," he said.
Saarani said the opposition leaders attacked the Menteri Besar due to political factors because they knew they could not raise other issues so long as Zambry led the state government.
"Even the comments in the news portals leaning towards the opposition admit that Zambry is an obstacle to their capturing Perak (in the general election)," he said.
In TAIPING, Perak Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said Ngeh was trying to manipulate issues to make it seem like the Menteri Besar was involved in misconduct.
Mohammad Zahir, who is also the state assemblyman for Kamunting, said Ngeh's allegation that the police did not investigate the alleged misconduct was also intended to incite the people.
"Koo Ham has run out of ideas and has no more issue to raise, and is recycling the old issues to gain the attention of the people who no longer fall prey to their strategy," he said at a press conference at his service centre in Kamunting.
He said he believed that the opposition was increasingly desperate and had to repeat old allegations that had been answered time and again with sufficient evidence.
