N.Sembilan PH Manifesto Merely Populist - MCA

SEREMBAN, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The latest offering or manifesto announced by the Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the 14th general election (GE14) has been deemed as merely populist or just a bait to fish for votes, said MCA Youth legal bureau chief Ng Kian Nam.

He said all the 10 shadow policies contained in the manifesto - which include limiting the term for menteri besar's post to two terms, no increase in land tax and quit rent for five years, and giving annual welfare aid to single mothers and poor students - were unrealistic and confusing.

"I think the manifesto announced by Negeri Sembilan PH is just a populist manifesto to fish for votes.

"They are not bringing any changes in terms of policies because what they offered have already been done and made available by the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government," he said.

He said the land tax and quit rent rates in Negeri Sembilan, for example, had remained unchanged over the past five years under the BN-led state government and if the PH really wished to limit the menteri besar's term to two terms, they could have tried it in Selangor and Penang.

"Why didn't they do it in Selangor and Penang since they are already in power in that two states," he chided.
