Mahathir Conceals Truth For Political Interest - Liow

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad deliberately conceals the truth about certain matters in the personal political interest, said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the veteran political leader was willing to deny the government efforts to strengthen the economy of the country.

Lately, he said, Dr Mahathir, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, visited the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park and, referring to 'Jalan Qinzhou' written in Chinese, claimed that the country's land and resources had been sold to China.

Liow said Dr Mahathir failed to tell the public that in Qinzhou, China, there was a street named Jalan Kuantan.

"These are all propaganda aimed at confusing the people because he does not point out that in the Qinzhou Industrial Park there is a Jalan Kuantan," he said to reporters after launching the MCA Belt and Road 2.0 initiative at Wisma MCA here today.

Liow said all economic plans implemented by the government were only to increase trade and investment for the country and not at all aimed at mortgaging national sovereignty.

The Transport Minister said Kuantan Municipal Council president Datuk Fadzilla Salleh was scheduled to visit the Qinzhou Industrial Park on Feb 26 to officially launch Jalan Kuantan there besides taking a look at the latest developments in the industrial zone.

"Does this mean that China has sold its rights and land to Malaysia," he asked.

Launched in 2016, the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park and the Qinzhou Industrial Park are twin industrial zones established to boost investment activity and enterprises of the two countries, besides strengthening bilateral ties.
