Don't Treat Opposition Turmoil Lightly - Hishammuddin
KLUANG, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery are reminded not to take lightly the current turmoil faced by the opposition pact, especially in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein this was because the weaknesses of the opposition did not mean that UMNO and BN were strong, so the machinery must play their respective roles to ensure victory at the 14th General Election.
"We in UMNO and BN cannot take it easy. When people don´t like or are not confident with the opposition, that does not mean that they know what we (UMNO and BN) are doing.
So, we must go down to the ground and tell them about our struggles, " he told reporters after opening the People-Friendly NBOS Fiesta at the Paloh Public Field here today.
He said this in response to crisis in PPBM which had seen many of its members left the party.
Yesterday, 50 PPBM members from the Larut Division declared they were leaving the party and joining UMNO as they had lost confidence in the leaders and the struggle of PPBM.
