CNY Brings Growing Confidence To Malaysia's Economy - Gerakan President




KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Chinese New Year which will be celebrated on Friday, is believed to bring with it growing confidence on the economic performance of a vibrant and stable country.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong expressed optimism that Malaysia's growing economic resilience to withstand external shocks was a reflection of its strong economic fundamentals and sound policies.

Mah, who is also Gerakan president said he was confident that the increase in momentum would translate into various benefits that could help the people and advance the nation.

"It gives more reason to celebrate the Chinese New Year and hopefully, this year brings better luck and good fortune.

"Chinese New Year is a celebration of new things. An atmosphere of optimism and renewed confidence in the country's leadership has emerged following our success again in overcoming adversity together as a nation," he said in his message in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here today.

He said Malaysians also showed a willingness to be united despite socio-political obstacles that tried to divide and demoralise them.

He hoped the Chinese New Year this year, would foster a sense of understanding among the people, to help Malaysians re-establish their vision, energy and practical spirit to achieve their desired goals.

"In the spirit of the Chinese New Year, we must take the opportunities that arise and make decisions that will bring about continuous improvement and development," he said.
