Don't Take Chinese Community For Granted - Idris Haron

MELAKA, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron today reminded the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery, especially from component party MCA, not to take the Chinese community for granted and to continue championing their cause.

The Melaka BN chairman said based on reports and feedback received, more people from the community were now leaning towards BN after seeing that the opposition had failed to deliver, which called for more efforts to help the people.

"The Chinese community sees us (BN) as working for the people, not just to win the elections, as we continue to fight for them even in areas where we have lost, thus winning back their confidence in BN and MCA."

"We do not work for the people to be populists. We are sincere in our efforts and the spirit of unity among all of us under BN to defend the fate of the people, should be continued and we must not let them down," he told reporters here, today.

Earlier, he attended the 2018 Chinese New Year Open House organised by Melaka MCA at Pay Fong Secondary School Hall in Jalan Kubu here.

About 5,000 people from various communities attended the event.
