Do Not Create Inharmonious Atmosphere For Political Interest - Zambry
IPOH, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir urged all parties not to undermine the harmonious situation in the state for their self-interests or vested political interests.
He said although democracy allowed freedom of expression, it should be done without undermining social harmony in the state.
"Sometimes just because of a small political problem, we tend to create another (political) problem. We need to stop the dispute and understand each other.
"If we have this value, regardless of whether you are a politician, businessman or ordinary citizen, I believe we will live in peace and harmony in Perak," he said at a Chinese New Year open house organised by the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI) which was attended by about 1,000 people.
Also present were PCCCI president Datuk Liew Sew Yee, Perak State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk S. Thangasvari and MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
Meanwhile, Zambry said he welcomed suggestions from anyone towards making Perak a progressive state.
He said they they could voice out their opinions at the Festival of Ideas organised by the state government.
"If you have better ideas, let's share them as Perak is the only state in Malaysia that promotes the Festival of Ideas to bring progress to Perak," he added.
