GE14: BN Aims To Win Seven Parliamentary Seats In Negeri Sembilan
SEREMBAN, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) targets to win seven out of the eight parliamentary seats in the state and to secure two-third majority in the State Assembly at the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
Menteri Besar and state BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said after winning five parliamentary seats in the GE13, the party would try to increase the number to seven by winning back the Telok Kemang and Seremban seats.
"For state seats, we have set a target to win more than two-third of the majority. I'm now looking at it on the best-effort basis to win as much as 26 state seats. To get the two-third majority, we only need 24 seats. This is our plan and I'm confident we can achieve that target if we work hard for it with the support from good election machinery.
"I'm sure UMNO will retain all its seats and win back the Sikamat seat, while MIC which will contest two seats can retain the Jeram Padang seat and wrest back the Port Dickson seat. For MCA which lost all their 11 seats in the GE13, we hope they can win back at least two seats," Mohamad told a press conference here today.
In the GE13, BN won five parliamentary seats and 22 state seats, followed by DAP with two parliamentary seats and 11 state seats, and PKR with one parliamentary seat and three state seats.
