Kelantan Police To Carry Out 48-hour GE14 Simulations Beginning Saturday

KOTA BHARU, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan police contingent headquarters (IPK) will carry out simulation exercises in every district on the possible scenarios that can occur during the polling day as well as post-voting atmosphere in conjunction with the 14th general election (GE14).

Kelantan IPK's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the simulation exercises would commence this Saturday at midnight and would end 48 hours later.

He said the exercises would be carried out at selected polling and counting centres, and among the scenarios were objections to poll results, riots that resulted in the implementation of a curfew if the circumstances forced the police to do so.

"We will also deploy the Light Strike Force (LSF) team, the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and the General Operations Force (PGA) and their assets as well as the use of 'thunder flash' and smoke grenade during the simulations.

"Hence, we urge the public not to be worried about the presence of several police personnel in a particular area during the period," he told a press conference at his office here today.

He said the simulation exercises, the fourth to be organised thus far, aimed at making sure that police personnel on duty remained alert at all times as well as at improving their efficiency if involved in such incidents and the public were advised to call the GE14 operations room at 09-7455728 for any enquiry.
