Being Approachable Among Criteria Of BN Candidates - Hishammuddin

KLUANG, March 4 (Bernama) -- Being approachable and close to the people is among the crucial criteria in the selection of candidates to represent the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the forthcoming General Elections.
UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the acceptance of the people for the selected BN candidates was important particularly as the candidates were chosen to fight the causes of the people.
"The choice of candidates, who are close to the people, will determine the victory of the BN," Hishammuddin, who is also Home Minister, told reporters after opening the Sembrong Felda Settlers Carnival at the Felda Ulu Penggeli field here today.
The Sembrong Member of Parliament was asked to comment on the criteria of candidates who would be chosen to represent the BN in GE14.
Earlier, Hishammuddin was reported to have said that the selection of candidates in the coming GE was the most thorough in the history of the general elections to ensure BN's victory.
Meanwhile Johor Bahru Member of Parliament Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, in his speech, advised UMNO leaders to constantly go down to the ground to meet the people face to face.
He said the face to face approach was more effective as it allowed the elected representatives to meet the people directly in order to know the problems faced by them.
"Don't be like the opposition who used social media excessively to spread slanders, let us (BN leaders) do it our way," said the Johor Bahru UMNO Division chief.
