Over 5,000 policemen in Kedah ready to face GE14 - DIGP

BALING, March 12 (Bernama) -- A total of 5,094 police officers and men in Kedah are ready to face the 14th General Election (GE14).
In technical terms, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said, policemen nationwide had undergone special training to handle the dissolution of the Parliament, nomination day and announcement of the GE14 result.
"This means, we are fully prepared to do the job if the (general) election takes place at any given time," he told reporters after officiating the new Baling district police headquarters (IPD) here today.
Also present were Kedah police chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Kasim and Baling police chief Sharifuddin Yusof.
Meanwhile, Noor Rashid reminded all political party supporters not to create any controversy while campaigning to ensure that no untoward incident occurred during the period.
He urged leaders of political parties to ensure their supporters as well as candidates complied with the Election Offences Act and other relevant laws.
