GE14: data mining boost for BN in Sepang

SEPANG, March 17 (Bernama) -- Data mining has boosted the Barisan Nasional's chances of wresting the Sepang parliamentary seat from the opposition in the 14th General Election (GE1$), according to Sepang UMNO Youth head Noorazli Said.

He said weak data mining was one of the factors why the BN lost the seat and two state seats under it in GE13 and that this had now been overcome with the micro management approach mooted by Selangor UMNO chief Tan Sri Noh Omar.

"Via data mining, it has been made mandatory for us the establish the profile of each voter in the constituency. Our machinery has come up with the data needed.

"That is why I can say with confidence that Sepang UMNO and its Youth wing will be up to the task for BN to win this time around," he told reporters here today.

In GE13, BN lost the Sepang seat to a PAS candidate, who has since joined PAS splinter party Amanah, and only won the Dengkil state seat while the other two state seats "Sungai Pelek and Tanjung Sepat" were won by DAP and PAS respectively.

In GE13, opposition parties PKR, DAP and PAS had formed the Pakatan Rakyat alliance but the pact has had a falling out with PAS, which has been replaced by Amanah and together with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia have formed a new opposition alliance called Pakatan Harapan.
