Sabah people must remain united to ensure aspirations, voices continue to be heard
KOTA KINABALU, March 18 (Bernama) -- The people in the state must remain united in defending the Barisan Nasional (BN)-led government in the 14th General Election to ensure the aspirations and 'voices of Sabah' are continued to be heard by the federal government.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said apart from being a state that was able to help chart the future direction of the country, Sabah could also become the backbone of the federal government's strength.
"We must choose the right 'big ship' which is BN...(a party) that is stable, multiracial and multi-religious. We stand together under the big ship...speak more loudly so that we can help chart the future direction of the country," he told reporters after the meet-and-greet session with church leaders here today.
He also called on the people of Sabah to continue giving their undivided support to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman as both leaders had brought development to Sabah for the sake of their comfort and well-being.
In the meantime, Abdul Rahman also assured that the government would continue to ensure the interests of the Christians in Sabah were preserved as the community also contributed to the country's political and economic stability as well as national development.
He said the government had never forsaken the interests and welfare of the Christian community in Sabah as the prime minister was always open to differences and adopted a fair approach in all aspects.
In fact, Abdul Rahman said the prime minister had also approved a RM10 million allocation for houses of worship of non-Muslims in Sabah.
