Libaran UPKO to help BN seize Sandakan
SANDAKAN, March 18 (Bernama) -- The newly-formed Libaran division of Pertubuhan Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Bersatu (UPKO) will help to pave the way for Barisan Nasional (BN) to seize the Sandakan Parliamentary constituency in the looming 14th general election (GE14).
Acting UPKO president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said the Libaran UPKO division which is headed by Dr Peter Jr Naintin is the only UPKO division in the Sandakan district.
He said this is because the Sandakan UPKO division was suspended for life due to technical problems.
He said the new division in Libaran will help the BN candidate in three parliamentary and state assembly seats win in the GE14.
Wilfred Madius, who is also Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said the new division which currently has 1,000 members, would hopefully have a positive impact on UPKO in the district and help BN win.
In the 13th general election, the Sandakan parliamentary set was won by DAP candidate Wong Tien Fatt @ Wong Nyuk Foh who defeated BN's Liew Vui Keong with a majority of 1,088 votes.
