MCA plans giant rally in Ayer Hitam

JOHOR BAHRU, March 18 (Bernama) -- MCA plans to hold a giant rally in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency to give a clear signal that the party will fight with all its might to defend the seat from falling into the opposition's grasp in the 14th General Election (GE14).

It was announced by MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai at a news conference after the party's Strengthening Johor Team gathering, attended by more than 5,000 members of the Chinese community at the Dewan Serbaguna Johor Jaya here today.

The rally, is believed was mooted following the DAP's announcement that its Johor chairman Liew Chin Tong would contest in the Ayer Hitam constituency against MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.

Meanwhile, at a separate function, Liow also described DAP's announcement on Liew's candidacy as aimed at obliterating MCA in Johor and not to champion the interests of the people.

"DAP is only good at twisting the facts and playing with the sentiments of the people without doing any contribution and serving the people," he said this after performing the ground breaking ceremony for Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaaan (SRJK) Sim Mow Yu here earlier.

"It is clear that we (MCA) serve, we give leadership and implement development progammes for the people but DAP doesn't do any work ... until the election time, it (DAP) only wants to eliminate MCA," said Liow.
