Gerakan President says unafraid to defend Teluk Intan seat

PUTRAJAYA, March 21 (Bernama) -- Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said today he was not afraid of defending his Teluk Intan parliamentary seat despite the fact that DAP considers the seat a 'white area' for the party.

He said he would stand in that seat against any DAP candidate if given the mandate by the Barisan Nasional leadership.

"I will not flee to another constituency. We will give them a good fight even as the underdog," Mah, who is Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, said to reporters after presenting excellent service awards to his ministry staff here.

In a by-election in 2014, Mah beat Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud of DAP with a majority of 238 votes. In the general election in 2013, he lost to Seah Leong Peng of DAP by a majority of 7,313 votes.

Mah said he was confident the voters of Teluk Intan would support him as he had served them well.
