MyPPP seeks to contest two parliamentary, three state seats in GE14

PUTRAJAYA, March 26 (Bernama) -- MyPPP is keen to contest in two parliamentary and three state seats in the 14th General Election (GE14), said its vice-president Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan.

He said MyPPP president Tan Sri M.Kayveas would meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, soon to convey the decision made collectively at the party's meeting yesterday.

Loga Bala, who is also Deputy Federal Territories Minister, said the MyPPP, which has been together with BN for 25 years, had also identified the potential candidates eligible to be fielded for the seats.

"It is also our hope that BN can give us two parliamentary and three state seats from any states. We hope BN chairman would consider our proposal since we are under the power-sharing principle umbrella body," he said when asked about MyPPP's seat target in the upcoming general election.

Loga was speaking to reporters after presenting the 2017 Federal Territories Ministry Excellent Service Award (APC) to 903 staff of the ministry here today.

It was widely reported Kayveas has been adamant in wanting to contest in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat and will not give up the seat easily even though MIC had insisted that the seat is theirs.

In the last general election in 2013, MyPPP contested in the Kepong parliamentary seat and the state seats of Kota Laksamana, Pasir Bedamar (Perak), Kota Alam Shah and Guchil.

In the GE13, Kayveas contested the Pasir Bedamar seat but lost to Terence Naidu V Raja of the DAP.

Asked if he is eyeing for any seat to contest, Loga Bala said: "I am a party man and I will follow what the party says."
