Review of electoral boundaries enables elected representatives to provide best service

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The review of electoral boundaries that was passed by the Dewan Rakyat (Parliament) last Wednesday would enable elected representatives to provide the best service to the people in their respective constituencies, said UMNO executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Thus, he dismissed allegations by certain quarters who said that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government was using a dirty tactic to win in the coming general election.
"What's the dirty about it? The review of electoral boundaries only involved a few constituencies.
"It (review of electoral boundaries) is not only done during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's time, but had been conducted three times during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's time," he told reporters after a prize presentation ceremony of a photography competition in conjunction with the UMNO General Assembly 2017.
The motion on the review of electoral boundaries which was tabled by Najib was passed after block voting with 129 MPs for and 80 against it.
The Election Commission suggested renaming of 12 parliamentary and 28 state seats in Peninsular Malaysia, but it did not propose any change to the number of parliamentary and state constituencies.
At the event, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) photographer Muhammad Zulhilmi Daud won the 'Love' category and took home RM300 cash and a Canon printer.
Muhammad Zulhilmi submitted a photo of Najib, who is also UMNO president with a baby during the UMNO General Assembly December last year.
The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) photographer bagged the grand prize.
