Election machinery strength will determine big BN victory - Salleh

TEMERLOH, April 2 (Bernama) -- The strength of the election machinery at grassroots level is vital in determining a big victory for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14), says Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
As such, he said the election machinery for BN component parties must be united and dare to fight whatever challenges ahead, including the allegations and lies hurled by the opposition on social media.
"We have to fight against fear. If we fight, we must be brave ... keep on fighting. Keep on fighting on social media and at talks that will be held. Only then we can win.
"That is the most important thing. We build a strong and solid team. Every team member has his or her own role, so do the candidates. Everybody has own role," he said in his speech at the launch of the BN GE14 Election Machinery for the Temerloh parliamentary constituency here tonight.
Also present were Temerloh BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin, who is also Lanchang state assemblyman, as well as Temerloh BN component parties' divisional heads.
Over 2,000 people from the BN election machinery attended the event and pledged to succeed in the 'Mission 4.0', namely to wrest the Temerloh parliamentary seat and both the Kuala Semantan and Mentakab state seats from the opposition, as well as to retain victory in the Lanchang state constituency.
At the same time, Salleh, who is also BN treasurer-general and UMNO treasurer, reminded all party members to remain loyal to their leaders and parties, unlike the opposition parties' members who were obsessed with a 93-year-old leader.
"The opposition pact is a coalition with no ideology in store for the people and will suffer from destruction after the GE14 as the pact is formed to achieve the goals of certain individuals, including (former prime minister) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who wants to seek revenge against the country's top leaders.
"He is doing so because he thinks he knows everything, is angry that his son has lost the vice-president's post in the UMNO election and feels that his legacy is being destroyed.
"As such, we have to be united to save Malaysia ... they are parties with no ideology, active only when it comes to elections and only know to politicise (matters) 24 hours, while BN has been actively helping people round-the-clock, " he added.
