Nation awaits news on Parliament dissolution

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysians waited with bated breath Friday morning on news about the possible dissolution of Parliament, a topic that has transfixed the nation for quite some time.

Members of the press had assembled at the gates of the Istana Negara here since 7 am, anticipating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would be there to seek the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V's consent to dissolve Parliament.

But Najib ,instead, was in Putrajaya, the nation's administrative capital, where he chaired the weekly cabinet meeting that many observers viewed as the final one before the dissolution of Parliament.

His official car was seen entering the Perdana Putra building at 8.40 am.

As the morning progressed, the media fraternity was still awaiting word on any official announcement on the matter.

The dissolution of Parliament will make way for the 14th general election.
