KOTA KINABALU, April 7 (Bernama) -- The people of Sabah want the state to continue to be under the present government because of the numerous changes and sustainable development that it has brought to Sabah, and for looking after their welfare over the past five years since the 13th general election.

Most of the Sabah people, when met, opined that the present government, helmed by Barisan Nasional (BN), was the best because of its optimism and and commitment in fulfilling the people's aspirations.

A civil servant, Roslinah Diwa, 37, who is from Sandakan, said under the current government, various initiatives had been carried out to ensure the comfort and well-being of the people, especially those in Sabah.

As such, she said, the BN government should be retained in the GE14 to enable them to continue to lead the country's administration, as well as that of the state, to ensure continuity in development.

However, improvements have to be carried out continuously, including by introducing the best mechanism to address weaknesses,? she told Bernama here today.

Meanwhile, a private sector worker from Putatan who wanted to be identified only as Xavier, 39, said only an experienced party such as BN was capable of leading the government's administration and fulfilling the demands of the people.

He said BN had proven its track record in having to meet most of the demands by the Sabah people, including in upgrading of infrastructure facilities, like roads, and basic supplies boost development of the rural areas.

"BN is also capable of thinking outside of the box by providing infrastructure and introducing initiatives more than what the people asked for," he added.

Following the announcement on the dissolution of the Parliament by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak effective today, Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman also announced the dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly effective today to enable GE14 to be held simultaneously in the state.
