Huge loss for Kelantan people if ECRL cancelled

BACHOK, April 7 (Bernama) -- It will be a huge loss for the Kelantan people if the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) project connecting Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang with Port Klang in Selangor is cancelled, said Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.
He said Kelantan needed an efficient transportation system to boost tourism industry and bring investments to the state.
"Transporting goods from Port Klang (to Kelantan) by using the existing land transport system can be time consuming and is quite costly," he told reporters here today.
Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was reported to have said that he did not rule out the possibility of the opposition scrapping the ECRL project if it won the GE14, claiming that the project was a waste.
Meanwhile, Awang Adek, who is also Bachok UMNO division chief, hoped that the people of Kelantan would give Barisan Nasional (BN) the mandate to administer the state to ensure various resources in Kelantan could be optimised and developed.
