BN Manifesto also emphasises development of the states




KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional manifesto for the 14th General Election launched tonight also places emphasis and focus on the development of the states in Malaysia.

Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in launching the manifesto at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here, promised that the BN would solve the water problem in Selangor if it is elected to administer the state.

"As for the pledge for Selangor, if the BN returns to power in the state, I confirm that the BN will solve the water problem," he said at the event attended by about 40,000 BN supporters all attired in the royal blue colour of the BN.

Najib said that if the BN was elected in Penang, it would provide 65,000 affordable homes in the state.

For Kedah, he said the BN would provide more employment opportunities to the young people and others through the setting up of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Special Economic Zone if given the mandate for the next five years.

Najib said the BN promises to bring smiles to the people of Sabah and Sarawak with its pledge to return the rights of Sabah and Sarawak as provided for in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

He also said that the BN would return to Sabah and Sarawak the supervisory right over electricity and gas, besides initiating a pilot project to set up schools using the English Language as the medium of instruction in Sabah and Sarawak.

For Johor, the Prime Minister promised to widen to six lanes the four-lane stretch of the North-South Expressway between Yong Peng and Johor Bahru while for Melaka, he promised to build a new highway from Kuala Linggi through Masjid Tanah and Klebang to Teluk Mas.

Najib said that for Terengganu, the BN would build in phases the Tepoh-Kuala Nerus highway to Kelantan, which is a part of the East Coast Expressway Phase Three.

Perak, he said, would get a new airport in Seri Iskandar over the next five years.

The Prime Minister said the BN would deliver in Perlis the Perlis River Basin development stretching from Kangar to Kuala Perlis.

Najib also promised to increase the number of affordable homes, low-cost houses and housing for second-generation Felda settlers in Pahang.

He said the BN would build more urban renewal projects and urban redevelopment projects in the Federal Territories, such as RUMAWIP, over the next five years.

As for Kelantan, he said the BN would expedite and complete the highway from Gua Musang to Kota Bharu if the coalition wins GE14.
