BN Manifesto commitment to improve people's lives

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional's manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14) not only demonstrates the party's continued commitment to the well-being of people from all layers of the society but also focuses on addressing the rising cost of living.

The manifesto, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak tonight, is a comprehensive five-year plan to ensure that Malaysia's progress and development can be enjoyed by all levels of society.

Negeri Sembilan BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the essence of the BN manifesto is in line with the state government's aspiration to formulate various strategies in addressing the cost of living, by far the biggest issue faced by the people today.

Rembau UMNO Division vice-chairman Datuk Dr Awaludin Said said the manifesto covers all races and religions and focuses on what needs to be done for Malaysia to achieve developed-nation status.

Negeri Sembilan Gerakan chairman Datuk David Choong Vee Hing said the manifesto ensures that the people remain prosperous and the country experiences continuous development.

"This manifesto covers all aspects and has provided a roadmap for the country. It's like we are seeing the light at the end of the dark tunnel. I and all the people hope that the government, under the leadership of BN, will carry out all the promises in the manifesto for another five years," he said.

In IPOH, the prime minister's announcement to build an airport in Seri Iskandar, Perak, was welcomed by the people as it will create job opportunities and spur economic development in the Perak Tengah district.

Trader Musthpar Ab Aziz, 57, from Manjung, said he was certain that the promise will be met positively by the people, knowing the commitment and seriousness of the federal government to help realise the state government's aspirations.

"Job opportunities will definitely be created, and the local economy will rise. So I hope that the project will be realised if BN gets the people's mandate in GE14," he said.

In KOTA BHARU, the expedited construction of the Gua Musang-Kota Bharu Highway announced in the manifesto was welcomed by the people of Kelantan.

In ALOR SETAR, the setting up of the Special Economic Zone at Bukit Kayu Hitam shows that the government is focused on developing an area which had thus far been overlooked by certain quarters.

Bukit Kayu Hitam state assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Zaini Japar said that apart from making Kedah more competitive in terms of economic development, the initiative will also able to create a joint border development initiative with the southern Thailand region.

In KUANTAN, Pahang UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman and UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Sharkar Shamsudin said the BN manifesto clearly shows that the Malaysian economy is on a solid platform, which allows the government to offer various incentives to the people.

He said the announcement of higher 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) payments for June and August this year is clear evidence of the matter.
