BN's consistent commitment shapes people's confidence, perception

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN)'s consistent commitment in prioritising the needs of the people is an important factor in shaping the people's confidence and perception.
That was the sentiment shared by the BN supporters who attended the launch of the BN Manifesto for the 14th general election (GE14) at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil today.
Kinabatangan UMNO division secretary Wan Daud Wan Kahar said the content of the manifesto, themed 'With BN for A Greater Malaysia' was inclusive as it intensified various aspects of development throughout the country, including Sabah and Sarawak.
"I heard there are 24 elements announced for Sabah and Sarawak. What I support most is to extend the coverage of power supply in Sabah and Sarawak with an allocation of RM2.3 billion and I can say that during BN's rule, 80 per cent of infrastructure development has been carried out in Sabah," he said.
The launch of the manifesto by BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and attended by more than 40,000 BN supporters from across the country, offers more than 300 initiatives under 14 thrusts to meet the needs of all levels of society, of all ages.
A single mother of four, Siti Shamsiah Ismail, 36, from Negeri Sembilan, said that the government's appreciation for women was something that touched their hearts deeply.
"Prior to this, we were often viewed as 'unimportant' by the society. However, with the various initiatives implemented by the government, we can now stand on our own feet," she said.
Meanwhile, Lim Chee Kok, 24, said the BN manifesto on increasing the minimum wage to RM1,500 in the next five years would help raise the standard of living of the young people.
"When young people start working, many of them earn less than RM1,200 a month and we certainly appreciate the increase," he said.
Private sector employee S. Jeeva, 32, welcomed the increase in public transport network as it was an important element for city dwellers who relied on public transportation.
"I will be staying in Cyberjaya in two years' time and I am glad that we will be having MRT service from there to the city centre," said Perak-born Jeeva.
Village head of Kampung Mentimun Tengah, Kedah, Abdul Rashid Hussain, 64, said the effort to safeguard the people's security through the thrust of Peaceful 1Negaraku was highly appropriate and anticipated as the people wanted to live peacefully without fear.
"The increase in the number of high-definition closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the crime hotspots will help reduce crime rate, as well as assist in police investigations," he said.
Housewife Nik Naemah Nik Haikal, 44, said that one of the initiatives in the Live Healthy thrust, the expansion of the free family doctor team concept to patients of chronic illnesses, was a fitting move prioritised by BN to ensure the wellbeing of the people.
"The increase in BR1M payment from RM400 to RM800 to households with earning of RM3,000 and below, to be distributed in June and August, will also help ease the burden of the people, as well as the one-off assistance of RM1,500 for children of BR1M recipients when they enrol in higher education institutions," said the mother of six children.
