BN not rattled by opposition's young candidates - Idris Haron

MELAKA, April 8 (Bernama) -- Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the coalition was not rattled by young candidates fielded by the opposition in the 14th general election (GE14).

The Melaka Chief Minister said this is because BN had long stressed on the role of the younger generation in leading the country.

"That is why there has always been a youth wing in BN and its component parties," he told reporters here today.

Idris was commenting on the announcement by Pakatan Harapan yesterday that it would place its Youth head Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to contest in the Muar parliamentary seat.

The 25-year-old candidate is expected to face three-term incumbent Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim, who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
