Sarawak BN Manifesto: Focus on return of rights

KUCHING, April 9 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) Manifesto launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today focusses on the transformation of the state through the digital economy platform and the return of Sarawak's rights, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said the manifesto outlines six thrusts that would comprehensively benefit Sarawak and its people.
"The devolution of power initiative will also boost the state's development and lessen the gap between the peninsula and Sarawak," he added.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the manifesto aimed to ensure that the harmony in the state was continuously preserved.
He said the manifesto also proved that the state government led by Abang Johari would continue to fight for the return of Sarawak's rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
"The state government will focus on the development of rural areas and provide basic infrastructures such as supply of clean water and electricity and the building of roads.
"It it hoped that when implemented, the manifesto will catapult Sarawak's progress to a higher level," said Rundi, who is also Sarawak BN secretary.
Meanwhile, state Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the manifesto would also emphasise the development of women in the digital economy and education.
