BN gov't takes into account views of all parties before presenting manifesto

ALOR SETAR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has taken into account the views of all parties including Bank Negara before presenting a manifesto for the benefit the people.

Kedah UMNO Information chief Datuk Othman Abdul said prior to drafting a budget or manifesto, the BN government would always ensure that the country's financial position was at a strong level so that all the promises made in the manifesto could be fulfilled and implemented.

"...when drawing up a budget, the government will certainly make every sen count and take into account (the views) from Bank Negara Malaysia, ICU (the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department) and EPU (Economic Planning Unit).

"We are not only taking into consideration the prime minister's view but also various other parties," he told reporters after delivering a public talk titled 'Rejecting the Pact's Hypocrisy' at Taman Derga Jaya here last night.

He was commenting on the statement by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as reported by a news portal on Saturday, who questioned where the prime minister was going to get the fund to implement the BN manifesto for the 14th General Election.

Meanwhile, Othman said the people should take a lesson of what had happened in Iraq, Libya and Egypt when the lives of the people in the countries were far worse after changing the government.

"Do not just hear the promises made by the opposition that cannot be fulfilled (on the contrary) BN has achieved more than 98 per cent (99.4 per cent) of its promises made in the last general election," he said.
