BN government to continue boosting agricultural sector - Ahmad Shabery
PASIR MAS, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) government will continue to boost the agricultural sector to ensure food supply for the people is sufficient, said Agriculture and Agro-based Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
He said the government would continue to ensure assistance was given to the farmers, fishermen and breeders in an effort to improve their living standard.
"Only the BN government can further raise capacity in the agricultural sector and provide sufficient food to the people. All these we (government) have done and want to further increase it," he told reporters after opening the Chetok Farmers' Open Day at the Chetok Area Farmers' Organisation here today.
He said the BN's commitment was contained in the BN manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14) themed 'Together with BN for a greater Malaysia' launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur on April 7.
He said the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and Pan Borneo Highway, are among the infrastructure that would also boost the agricultural sector, including agricultural products.
