KJ answers question on why BN Youth launches special manifesto

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The special manifesto for youths launched by Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth tonight is a pledge of BN's commitment to continue serving the young people for the next five years if given the mandate to continue ruling the country after the 14th general election (GE14).
BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin said it was normal for any contesting party to put forward their manifesto to the voters during the election season.
Ever since his video clip on Youth Guarantee went viral over the social media yesterday, he said many had questioned why BN wanted to provide its guarantee now and not five years before.
"This is my answer. We have done our level best for the young people of Malaysia. Issues of employment, TVET (technical and vocational education and training), PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation) incentives, house ownership...we have fought for it all and they are now being implemented by the government.
"So, I think there is nothing wrong if we wish to renew our contract of service for the next five years," he said when launching the manifesto dubbed Youth Guarantee at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.
The manifesto underlined eight-point guarantee, namely to provide job opportunity and training; increase income and skills; empower the economy of rural youths; facilitate access to start-up financing for young entrepreneurs; alleviate burden of young families; provide better quality of life; ensure fair opportunity in all segments; and to uphold the ideas of the young people for the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).
At the event attended by thousands of young people, Khairy also promised to ensure that the young people would get most of the job opportunities as promised by BN in its manifesto, hence reducing the nation's dependency on foreign workers.
He said vacancies created with the implementation of mega projects such as the East Coast Rail Link and High Speed Rail would also be filled by local youths.
Khairy said BN would also solved the issues of stagnant income and salary of young employees, especially in private sector, though negotiations.
At the event, Khairy also announce marriage aid for young couple to get married, with the mechanism to be finalised later.
Besides, he said in a bid to ensure that the voices of the TN50 generation be heard, selected youths would be brought to the Cabinet meeting each month to enable them to deliver their best and popular ideas.
I'm not here to make empty promises or to promise you the moon and the stars. What I put forward to you tonight is a guarantee that we can deliver.
The guarantee has been properly checked and I have met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with the planning and costing and he said yes, okay!, he said to the cheers from the crowd.
