Perak Pakatan Harapan unveils GE14 manifesto




IPOH, April 10 (Bernama) -- Opposition pact Pakatan Harapan (PH) tonight launched its manifesto for Perak should they win the 14th General Election (GE14) and take over the state administration.

The manifesto, which outlined five key thrusts and comprised 13 promises, was launched by PH National Chapter honorary secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah with the theme, 'Bersama Harapan Perak Kembali Gemilang' (With Harapan, Perak is Back to its Glory).

Also present were state PH chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Perak Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman Asmuni Awi and Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming.

The key thrusts are welfare and people's economy; integrity and trust; social justice and democracy; the culture of knowledge and research; as well as environment and community.

Perak PH also outlined 10 focus areas including the special assistance for senior citizens, single mothers and persons with disabilities as well as armed forces and police veterans; and the establishment of women's development institution to enhance the capability and skills of the group from the aspects of self-management, family and work.

Others were the special aid scheme for Perak students at higher learning institutions; the Menteri Besar's Scholarship for postgraduate students; as well as the special assistance to pondok (religious) schools, tahfiz (Quran memorisation) schools, 'sekolah agama rakyat', Chinese private schools, and the Chinese and Tamil National Type schools.

The Election Commission (EC) today announced May 9 (Wednesday) as polling day, April 28 (nomination day) and May 5 (early voting).

The campaigning period is set for 11 days beginning from nomination day.
