Putrajaya BN election machinery to have 3,500-man strength

PUTRAJAYA, April 12 (Bernama) -- Putrajaya Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery for the 14th General Election (GE14) will operate with the strength of 3,500 staff to retain the federal administrative centre as its stronghold.

Its director, Datuk Shokri Shafee, said apart from planning and implementing the flag and poster war strategies, they would also set up 75 booths in strategic locations across the federal territory to ease their operations.

"For the GE14, and for the first time ever, we will provide a special pass for our staff to enable them to

identify each other," he said when met at the Putrajaya BN Operation Centre here today.

He said the staff would be stationed at their respective areas, at which they would be responsible to ensure and encourage all registered voters in Putrajaya to go to the polls on May 9.

The Election Commission (EC) had set the polling for the GE14 on May 9, nomination on April 28 and early voting on May 5.

On the polling day, Shokri said the BN machinery would provide suitable vehicles to send the voters to their polling stations, just like in previous elections.

He said he was also confident that BN would retain the Putrajaya parliamentary seat with the leadership credibility of the incumbent Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, or better known as 'Ku Nan', who had done so much for the constituents.

"Ku Nan has done so much here, everyone knows that and this (GE14) is the time for them to return the favour," he said, adding that the Putrajaya BN election machinery also believed that Tengku Adnan is the most suitable candidate to be fielded to retain the seat.

IN GE13, Tengku Adnan defeated PAS' Datuk Husam Musa with 5,541-vote majority.
