Smooth preparations for GE14 in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, April 12 (Bernama) -- Final preparations for the 14th General Election (GE14) in Putrajaya parliamentary constituency (P125) have been intensified right after the Election Commission (EC) announced the important dates relating to the GE14 on Tuesday.
Bernama check at the returning officer's office in Precinct 9 here, found that the EC staff were busy putting up important notices on the Putrajaya map and preparing all the tools and equipment needed to face the polling day.
Putrajaya Returning Officer Datuk Azizi Ahmad Termizi said training had been given to all the EC staff since last year.
"We have 30 additional staff this year as there are three additional polling centres in this parliamentary constituency. Our preparation are running smoothly and almost 100 per cent completed," he told Bernama today.
For the GE14, Putrajaya has seven polling centres and 44 channels, involving 332 election staff.
Azizi also expressed hope that all 27,306 registered voters in Putrajaya would come out and discharge their duty for the country as the opportunity came only once every five years.
"I hope all voters will go to the polls to elect their representative and may the election process run smoothly," he said.
The EC has set the polling for the GE14 on May 9, nomination on April 28 and early voting on May 5.
In the GE13, Barisan Nasional's candidate Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor defeated PAS' Husam Musa with 5,541-vote majority.
