SEREMBAN, April 12 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan list of potential Barisan Nasional candidates contains also the name of Teluk Kemang UMNO chief Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said he did not know where the former MP for Jempol would be fielded.

Mohamad spoke to reporters after the ground-breaking for a new building of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Ladang Ulu Kanchong at Taman Forest Heights here.

Also present were Deputy Education Minister Senator Datuk Chong Sin Woon, State Director of Education Pkharuddin Ghazali, State MCA chairman Datuk Seri Dr Lim Chin Fui and State Gerakan chairman Datuk David Choong Vee Hing.

Mohamad, who is also the State BN chairman, said the list of potential candidates was sent to BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last Tuesday.

On the Pakatan Harapan claim that there would be a ?Malay tsunami' swing of Malay votes to the opposition, Mohamad said it was just a theory because the Malays still had high regard for UMNO and BN to continue administrating the country.

"In fact, I have noticed that the Malay support for BN in the rural and semi-urban areas is stronger than in the last general election," he said.

Mohamad said the State BN was confident of retaining the 22 seats it held in the last legislative assembly and win about five to seven more in the coming general election on May 9. Negeri Sembilan has 36 state seats.

Nomination for the general election is on April 28.
