KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 12 (Bernama) -- Sarawak has a good track record in the involvement of women as elected representatives in Parliament and state legislative assembly, said Barisan Nasional (BN) Wanita chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

She hoped that, in the 14th General Election (GE14), there would be a record increase in the number of women candidates as Sarawak BN was always consistent in providing opportunities to women in the state.

"i have just whispered to the Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) on having more women candidates from Sarawak," she said.

She told reporters this after the launching of the Sarawak BN Wanita GE14 election machinery by Abang Johari at the Kota Samarahan Civic Centre here today.

Shahrizat was also confident all state BN chairman, Chief Ministers and Menteri Besar would ensure women candidates were being fielded in GE14 apart from ensuring the victory of the BN.
