Opposition practises double standards - Idris

MELAKA, April 13 (Bernama) -- Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the opposition was practising double standards when dealing with the issue of the review of the electoral boundaries, especially involving the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency.

Idris, who is also the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, stressed that the BN and the opposition were equally affected by the review.

"The review of electoral boundaries is nothing new...it happens once in every 10 years...it cannot be that each time a review is conducted and BN wins, BN is cheating (and) the Election Commission is cheating.

"But what about the areas they (opposition) win after the review? If they win, the EC is not cheating, that's double standard," he told reporters after launching a housing expo organised by Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia here today.

He was commenting on Melaka DAP Secretary Khoo Poay Tiong's statement that the recent review of the electoral boundaries would provide an easy victory for BN in Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency.
