BN candidates need to win, prove their selection is right - Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the 14th General Election (GE14) have been urged to repay the trust shown in them by the party leadership by ensuring victory in seats they will be contesting for.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also BN deputy chairman, said BN candidates needed to ensure a win no matter how difficult the seat they were contesting in was.
"When the opportunity comes, do not look left or right. There should be no retreat or disappointment, only victory. Stay on the front line and ensure victory.
"Make sure not to embarrass BN when you're given the constituency (to contest). No matter how difficult, prove to me and the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) that victory will be for BN," he said.
He was speaking at the launch of the 2018 BN Youth Expo at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here, today.
The two-day expo, which opens today, offers more than 50,000 employment opportunities by more than 20- participating exhibitors, comprising government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs).
Also present was Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also BN Youth leader.
Ahmad Zahid also reminded those who were not selected as candidates for the coming general election to not be disappointed, but to continue to help the BN machinery.
He said the BN Youth (members) should be given more opportunity to contest.
"I am very confident, if given the opportunity, they will be able display a better performance than those who have been given the opportunity," he said.
The Election Commission (EC) has announced May 9 as polling day for GE14, with April 28 as nomination day and May 5 for early voting.
