BN committed to ensure youths' aspirations are met - Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) is committed to ensure the aspirations and needs of youths especially in career, house ownership and funding as well as skills training will continue to be given attention.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi said various platforms would be used to help raise the standard of living of youths including through BN Youth career carnival which had entered its 38th session since 2011.
He said the efforts of BN in translating the aspirations and needs of youths into reality were not merely on paper or seasonal, but had been proven time and again.
"The manifestation of our commitment is not seasonal as it has implemented since 2011 and if given the opportunity, we will continue give such support," he said when opening the BN 2018 Youth Expo at Putra World Trade Centre here today.
Also present was Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin who is also BN Youth chief.
The two-day expo which began today is offering more than 50,000 employment opportunities by more than 200 exhibitors comprising government agencies and government-linked companies (GLC).
Ahmad Zahid said the four segments offered in the expo included career opportunity carnival, affordable houses, skills training and entrepreneurship funding in line with the continuous efforts of BN to meet the aspirations raised by youths.
According to him, the BN manifesto which promises three million jobs in five years with the target of 600,000 employment opportunities each year for youths will not be difficult to be implemented as it has been meticulously planned through structured programmes such as 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SL1M) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as well as taking into consideration online business.
"In this regard, we hope funding by financial and banking institutions will think about the flexible loans which would not burden youths," he said.
Apart from that, he said BN would also give attention to house ownership by youths by providing various schemes including funding facilities.
He also called for the setting up of a secretariat to coordinate and provide uniform skills training by various government agencies to ensure no overlapping of such efforts.
Ahmad Zahid also proposed Khairy to be appointed to chair the secretariat.
