Johor BN manifesto draws positive reaction
JOHOR BAHRU, April 14 (Bernama) -- The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto launched by state BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin today, received positive feedback from the people.
Generally they said the pledges announced by the Johor BN covered various aspects for the benefit and well-being of the people especially five target groups namely Orang Muda Johor (OMJ or Young Johoreans), the Felda community, disabled people, the Orang Asli, women and mothers.
A young entrepreneur, Darren Lai, 28, welcomed the RM500 aid to young couples earning RM3,000 and below and getting married for for the first time, as the move could help ease their burden.
"This will encourage young people to marry thus reducing immoral activities and various problems among them. The aid will be a great help to newly married couples in starting a family and building a home," he told Bernama here today.
Civil servant, Faridah Hussien, 52, was deeply moved by the pledge in fighting rights of women and mothers with the establishment of the Tun Fatimah Women's Complex as a business centre, fashion complex and counselling centre as a capacity building initiative to strengthen women folks.
"This will help women to develop skills in various fields and strengthen their participation in business. We are grateful for this initiative which shows that the leader is concerned about empowering women," she said.
A private sector retiree, P.Dalakrishnan, 66, said the manifesto showed that the BN was always looking for ways to support and improve the education system in Johor.
"BN's efforts to empower Chinese and Tamil National Type Schools (SJKs) should be commended as they consider the interests of other races in Johor," he said adding that, the state had always emphasised on quality education.
