281 Pasir Salak PPBM members quit party

PASIR SALAK, April 15 (Bernama) -- A total of 281 Pasir Salak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia members led by its former assistant registrar Zainal Abidin Hussin quit the party Saturday and joined UMNO.

Zainal Abidin said the decision to leave the party was made after losing confidence in the party leadership who only thought of their position without thinking of the fate of the grassroots.

"We have made a comparison between all the political parties in the country, UMNO is the only party that always champions the cause of Islam and the Malays," he said after submitting their UMNO membership forms to Pasir Salak UMNO Division chief Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman here tonight.

Tajuddin who is also Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, said the decision by Zainal Abidin and his friends to join UMNO would enable them to contribute to efforts to champion the plight of the multi-racial community in the Pasir Salak parliamentary constituency.
