ALOR SETAR, April 15 (Bernama) -- PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today revealed that a few leaders of parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) tried to limit the powers of the party's Syura Council while they were still party members.

Abdul Hadi said that as the action of these individuals was deemed to have violated the PAS constitution and this caused anger among the party members, eventually these individuals were defeated when they contested in the 2015 PAS annual congress.

"They did try, at that time, to table a motion at the congress, to limit the Syura Council's powers to an advisory role only rather than having the highest powers in making decisions in PAS as they do now."

"This move violated the PAS constitution and what happened was the congress rejected the motion, they were then eliminated when they did not win any party posts," he told reporters after launching the 41st Pokok Sena PAS branch general assembly here, today.

Also present were PAS Mursyidul Am or Spiritual Leader Hashim Jasin and PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
