PRS ready for GE14 - Masing

KUCHING, April 15 (Bernama) -- Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) is all set for the 14th General Election (G14) with its complete list of candidates, election machinery and preparations, said its president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.

Masing said the list of the party's six candidates has been submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

"Since then these potential candidates have been informed by the party that they will be our candidates, depending on the endorsement by the prime minister and chief minister," said Masing when met by reporters after closing the PRS Youth Argo Empowerment programme at Damai Beach Resort near here today.

Masing said, in term of preparation, PRS women's wing had been moving all around the places while the youth's wing was also on standby.

"From the event today we can say that the youth are well prepared for the fight. When the announcement is made, we are going straight to the ground," he added.

Masing, who is also Sarawak deputy chief minister said they are very confident that the prime minister would accept its candidates list as he did in GE12 and GE13.

"We will also have a lady candidate as we are walking the talk by putting a lady as one of our candidates as we are going to bring women in the hierarchy of administration," he said, adding that the two new faces are both in their 50's and are lawyers by profession.

Earlier on, PRS Youth launched the first ever Agro Youth mobile application/apps, which according to its Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan was very unique as the party was among the first BN component party in Sarawak to have the special apps.

"The apps can be downloaded at Google play and after that we will be doing it for Apple application," he said adding that the apps could be registered by entering the PRS membership number to create user name and password.

He said the apps would have the members' profile, PRS political and programme news and a market place for the members to promote and sell their products.

The apps was designed to connect all of PRS Youth members throughout Sarawak by using the latest online platform which will essentially facilitate two-way communication and effective information dissemination via the Internet-of-Things (IoT), he added.
