Indian traders vow to back BN

JOHOR BAHRU, April 15 (Bernama) -- Indian traders in the country have pledged to stand firmly behind Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14), based on the belief that only the BN government will look after the welfare of the Indian community, including its business people.

Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) president Tan Sri Dr K. Kenneth Eswaran said this was reached at a meeting held two weeks ago which was attended by members of the association.

"Indian businessmen will 100 per cent choose a leader who will take care of the nation's economy. Good political governance will boost good economic development," he told reporters after the MAICCI met the Indian community here today.

According to Kenneth, Indian traders have already seen the BN's commitment in championing their cause over the years and consider Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as a leader who has taken a lot of effort to improve the standard of living of the Indian community.

"Transformation of the national type Tamil schools, building of temples, helping Indian non-governmental organisations and ready to listen to problems facing the Indian community.

"Hence, I hope the Indian community will be smart in their choice of leader and remember the contributions made by him in uplifting the Indian community," he said.
